Claire Caspian is an
English professor who teaches her students to find beauty in literature. Over the course of her life, tragedy has met her time and time again. The most recent one was the death of her husband. Claire decides to return with her son Graeme back to her hometown of Romeo, Colorado. There Claire will live with her abuelita, the richest woman in the county.
Dr. Stephen Reyes first meets Claire when she goes to see him about Graeme’s asthma. Stephen can’t help but notice every little thing about her, especially the fact that Claire doesn’t wear a wedding ring. Claire is the first person that Stephen has cared about since his divorce several years ago.
Claire is instantly attracted to Dr. Reyes. After a hilarious and humiliating misunderstanding, Stephen and Claire spend time together, and Claire finds herself pouring out her heart to him. After losing Rob, will Claire be able to conquer her fear of losing Stephen as well? Stephen has already broken down the walls around Claire’s heart, but will she let him get any closer? Will another tragedy prevent Claire from having love for a second time?
I really enjoyed reading about how Claire taught a few of her classes. I think it would be so much fun to have her as a professor! I also loved reading about Claire’s relationship with her son Graeme. He mattered most to Claire, and he was adorable! The only thing that I didn’t like so much was the ending of the book. Perhaps I’m the only one that feels this way, but I wish the book would have continued on just a little bit longer. All in all, I recommend this book as a great read to all females.
